$500 Country School Preservation Grant

In Fairhaven, MA we are doing more restoring work on our 1828 stone one-room schoolhouse. My question is about roof gutters. Can you direct me to information as to whether or not they were installed in the early schoolhouses? Any sources you can suggest would be appreciated.
