Pictures and Progress in Caldwell, Kansas: Belleview District # 68
If you've been involved in a schoolhouse renovation, you know exactly what it takes to bring an old schoolhouse back to life! You'll certainly enjoy this link submitted by new CSAA members Mike and Valerie Brunhoeber who are personally knee deep into restoring the Belleview District #68 in Caldwell, Kansas. To publicize the yeoman's work they've already accomplished on their schoolhouse, they've created a website that speaks for itself, complete with photos, newspaper article links, comments, and some history of their schoolhouse. Be sure to access the link to the article in the Wellington Daily News by Nate Jones that you'll find on their site.
Our congratulations and praise to the Brunhoebers, donors, and any volunteers undertaking this long term project so local children can visit in the future for a look back into schoolhouse history!

Dunkle Schoolhouse in the Hocking Hills Now Historic Host Lodging
If you're planning a visit to scenic Vinton County, Ohio, you may not just want to visit a one-room school, but how about lodging in one? The Dunkle School located just north of the village of McArthur, Ohio is a place you can call home...for a time. According to the website it has been renovated and furnished to help preserve the history of this Appalachian area and to help the building function as "sustainable preservation." This means that the rental helps maintain the building while rescuing and restoring at-risk historic structures for guests to enjoy.
Thanks to Sue Maxwell of Historic Host "Vacation with History" lodgings for her submission. We wish her luck in this creative venture! For detailed information visit the links below:

Dennis Patton is a retired high school principal. In October 2009 he and a friend purchased a oneroom
school near Columbia, Illinois. They discovered that the school, called Sand Bank School, was
built in 1855 on land that had held a log subscription school from 1817 until the new frame school was built. The first English speaking public school in the Illinois Territory in was nearby and built in
1783. Visit Band Bank School on Facebook to see pictures of the preservation effort.

We are renovating a one-room rural school house in Arlington SD and need to find some brackets to repair antique bench style desks. Does anyone know where we might find them?
