50-50 Raffle to Benefit CSAA Efforts
Our one room school enthusiasts may be interested in obtaining a water color painting of the Highlandville two-room one-story school located north of Decorah, IA in rural Winneshiek County. This schoolhouse is in the final stages of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The painting comes framed and matted. It measures approximately 24" wide and 18" tall. The artist is Douglas Eckheart.
Mr. Eckheart recently retired from the Luther College art faculty and operates a gallery in Decorah. It will be sold in a silent auction with proceeds benefitting the Country SchoolAssociation of America and the Winneshiek County Historical Society on a 50-50 basis.
Persons not attending the annual Preservation Iowa Country Schoolhouse Conference, which will be held in Decorah October 10-11, may submit a bid for the painting by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The minimum bid for the framed painting is $100. Please include your contact information and a statement of your bid.
Bidding results will be announced by mid-October.
